Cubao Expo has always been my hang out place. It has a vibrant and lively atmosphere especially at night when young creative minds come out and gather for a few drinks. I’ve been seeing Bellini’s restaurant every time I go there but I’ve finally decided to try it for myself to see if the good reviews about them are true.
My first impression about the place was that it was cozy and lovely. Amazing art of Italian landmarks are seen on the walls giving it a unique touch not found or felt in other restaurants. It’s really ideal for romantic dates, birthdays, and other intimate occasions. The vibrancy of the ambiance is a cure for the stresses the streets of Cubao can cause lol.
The owner of Bellini’s, who of course was Italian, was very pleasant. We had a small chat and he made sure I felt welcome. He’s also the best man to talk to if you’re not too familiar with Italian cuisine. He can recommend dishes that matches the Filipino taste buds. He’s had years of experience in the restaurant business to understand what his Filipino customers want.
The food
Food servings are perfect in quantity and quality. Price is also quite reasonable, often averaging P350 and above. While waiting for your order, you’re given complimentary breadsticks. It won’t be an Italian restaurant with out it.
I went with what was recommended to me. I had a Spaghetti Bolognese and a Alla Rustica pizza. The pasta was perfectly al dente and very filling.
The pizza I ordered was a small sized one. When it got on my table, I thought the waiter got my order wrong and instead got me a large pizza. Turns out it was correct. So I was happy that my “small” pizza was big enough for 1-3 persons for P350.
Alla Rustica comes with tomato, mozzarella, olives, and salciccia (Italian sausage).
My only regret was that I didn’t have enough room in my belly for dessert. I heard they’re amazing too. After finishing my pasta and devouring half of my pizza, I had to ask the waiter to have the remaining for to-go.
Bellini’s in pop culture
The restaurant was featured in the 2007 movie One More Chance, starring John Lloyd Cruz and Bea Alonzo. It was the setting for the dinner part scene where Popoy (Cruz) and Basha (Alonzo) meet up with friends.
Location
