Looking for a nice open-area spot in Metro Manila? Try going to Marikina City’s Riverbanks Center along the River Park. We’re sharing some pictures here so you can get a glimpse of what you can expect there. They have everything designed to amuse a family. They’ve got a family-friendly theme park, variety of foods, two nearby malls, a bazaar, rides, and games.
The park is usually crowded during the weekends. So I recommend you come on weekdays if you prefer a more peaceful atmosphere. Also, this is still a flood prone area, many of the establishment’s infrastructures are on stilts. So please be informed first about the weather before coming here.
But all in all, it’s a fun place to be even if you don’t have a budget. If you have a bicycle, much better. The park is bicycle-friendly so it’s good for sight seeing. It has a trail that stretches further east, from Marikina Riverbanks Amphitheater to Marikina River Park’s Roman Garden.

I think this is an unofficial parking space
The river seems to be cleaner than before. Efforts to clean the river by the government has been prevalent
There were still a few litters by the banks but it’s now becoming lush with the greeneries
A foot bridge connecting both banks and you could see SM Marikina Mall on the other side. The mall is near so it’s walking distance
You can fish here but I think it would still be safer if we have a go signal from DENR before you could eat your catch.
Let’s stroll around some more…
You could also bring your bicycle here. I actually encourage it so you can also go further since the River Park stretches longer than what I’ll be showing here.
A closer look at the water. Looks cleaner than before but still has a hint of sewage smell. I don’t recommend swimming
But I recommend you try these rentable rafts just for fun.
